synergIT has assisted Presbyterian SeniorCare with a variety of professional
services ranging from Voice and Data Unification to SharePoint Intranet
development, Help Desk Integration and Network Support. Presbyterian
SeniorCare, headquartered in Oakmont, PA, for more than 70 years has been
improving the lives of older adults in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Presbyterian SeniorCare offers a variety of living and care options, including:
assisted living, independent and supportive housing, nursing care and community
living. Presbyterian SeniorCare is faced with the technology challenges
for maintaining its growing clinical needs as well as planning strategically
for future growth.
As part of a corporate initiative, synergIT conducted a Unification Assessment
which laid the foundation for upgrading and consolidating three separate IT
voice and data networks into one main enterprise network. This initiative
is to create the most reliable and easy to manage network-based system; a
system that addresses current organizational needs and accommodates future
growth and programs. As a result of this project, Presbyterian SeniorCare
was able to reduce their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), standardize on a single
desktop image, unified messaging services, remote application accessibility and
help-desk policies and procedures for support regardless of location.
synergIT was able to design and implement the Cisco Unified Communications
platform for Presbyterian senior care to provide phone service to its 2000 plus
phone clients. This deployment is unique in the fact that it provides phone
service to approximately 400 business users, but leverages the flexibility of
the Cisco platform to provide phone service to every resident room across the
three campuses using Cisco’s analog voice gateway platform. This design has
streamlined the support and change management procedures by using a single
centralized cluster which services all devices. Additionally, the solution has
enhanced intercampus communications by leveraging a unified dial plan.

Burt Hill is the largest Architectural/Engineering Design firm in the region.
They are recognized in their industry as a national leader in the area of
technology utilization. They have offices in Pittsburgh, Butler, Philadelphia,
Boston, DC, Cleveland, Miami, New York and internationally, in Dubai and Abu
Dhabi, UAE and India.
Burt Hill has been a client of synergIT's for over twelve years and is one
of many who can readily verify the value specific to our on-going support
services and the TCO methodologies we've brought to their organization.
synergIT provides Burt Hill with strategic IT consulting, design,
implementation and 24/7 support services across their entire
network/organization and has been pivotal to both the design and success of
their enterprise-wide IT strategy.
synergIT developed, recommended and implemented extensive IT initiatives,
through several strategic information technology studies, Total Cost of
Ownership (TCO) justifications, and plans. In addition to many initiatives on
the desktop, server and application environment, synergIT designed and
implemented a Cisco IP Telephony solution which spanned all domestic offices
and has recently implemented the Cisco solution for the UAE offices. synergIT
worked closely with Burt Hill to design and implement a telephony environment
that was tailored to the dynamic nature of their offices which includes
frequent travel between offices and dependency on software based phones. The
design is completely unified and leverages advanced dial plan elements such as
four digit dialing, toll bypass and automated failover. Ultimately, the design
gave rise to the flexibility that Burt Hill required while providing a
centrally managed system that allowed truly unified communications across 1200
plus user organization.
UCP of Pittsburgh has been a client of synergIT’s for over five years.
During this time synergIT has assisted UCP of Pittsburgh with a variety of
professional services projects ranging from Unified Communications with the
Cisco VoIP implementation, Network Support, Customized Application development,
Microsoft SharePoint Intranet deployment and terminal server/thin client
deployment.
UCP of Pittsburgh services individuals with severe disabilities, a segment of
the population that is particularly vulnerable to neglect and community
isolation. Through Community Living and Support Services (CLASS), UCP
Pittsburgh serves more than 200 individuals daily, with all types of
disabilities, including acquired brain injury, mental retardation, spina
bifida, spinal cord injury and cerebral palsy. UCP is driven by organizational
values that foster inclusion of people with disabilities. UCP of Pittsburgh
offers a progression of services from independent skills training in the
classroom, to community-based case management for social/recreational and
residential supports.
Based upon the growing needs of the organization,synergIT worked closely with
UCP of Pittsburgh to design and deploy a unified communications solution that
provided the organization with the valuable tools to streamline and enhance
their level of care and service. UCP focuses heavily on the use of Microsoft
integration tools such as Unified Messaging and directory integration. This
implementation has been a tremendous productivity tool and continues to provide
UCP Pittsburgh with ease of administration and improved call flow routing while
providing a solid foundation for organizational growth, satellite offices and
remote users.

The County of Allegheny is comprised of numerous departments and row offices
servicing the residents of the County. synergIT has worked on numerous
strategic projects with various departments such as; Division of Computer
Services, Department of Public Works, Recorder of Deeds, Allegheny County Jail
and the Department of Human Services. Our relationship with the County of
Allegheny is over 15 years and still going strong. synergIT currently
provides second and third level Microsoft software and HP server hardware
support to 10 County departments. This support agreement ensures that
critical County government systems that serve the residents of Allegheny County
as well as the State of Pennsylvania are functional on a continuous
basis. synergIT has led many key projects with the County over these many
years including, core network operating system migrations, Division of Computer
Services Power and Management studies, Internet and Intranet website security
and access strategies, server virtualization and consolidation, disaster
recovery initiatives, thin-client (Citrix) implementations to Allegheny County
Parks and business process engineering with the County Jail and Recorder of
Deeds.

WesBanco is the largest financial institution in West Virginia; it services
over 80 branches and 1,500 users across four states, including Pennsylvania.
For over 8 years, synergIT has provided systems integration and network
consulting services to WesBanco and has become a trusted technical advisor for
many IT initiatives. synergIT has worked with the bank on several network
migrations including moving from Novell to a Windows 2000 / Exchange 2000, 5
domain – 120 server environment. This migration incorporated the entire branch
network as well as the corporate headquarters. Other projects included ISA
server implementation, Citrix consulting, desktop image standardization,
comprehensive network documentation services, help desk consulting, business
continuance and disaster recovery. In fact, our senior consultant reviews and
conducts testing on the Bank’s disaster recovery plan in conjunction with their
offsite management firm every year. synergIT designed WesBanco’s entire WAN
infrastructure to connect the Bank’s branches which encompass a wide service
area across multiple Local Exchange Carriers and 3 LATAs. The implementation of
the Frame Relay WAN was completed by a team of engineers and a project manager.
This team worked to install, configure and cutover the sites as well as manage
the overall project, provision the circuits, and provide documentation of the
new environment. Our network engineers designed the Active Directory schema for
the entire bank and implemented the new environment at each branch location.
The team configured all of the sites to accommodate WesBanco’s messaging and
host connectivity requirements.

Reed Smith is a top international law firm, dedicated to core values of

personal service unsurpassed in its 125-year history. synergIT has provided a
variety of high-level Microsoft consulting along with systems integration
services on other third-party products. Over the past year, we have assisted
Reed Smith in maturing their single domain, 16 OU Windows 2000 Active Directory
environment well beyond where Microsoft consulting services left their
migration over a year ago. Our senior consultant has provided an invaluable
service by designing customized scripts that simply make their AD design more
stable. Combined with another senior engineer onsite, our two resources have
acted as onsite software support handling Active Directory issues before they
become critical and then documenting the results. On the Exchange side, we
provided senior-level consulting on their current Exchange design resolving
several minor concerns. synergIT has also been involved in piloting Microsoft’s
Operations Manager (MOM) solution at its corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh
and plans are for this pilot to be rolled out to the other locations in 2005.
synergIT is currently involved in the successful rollout of a new desktop image
utilizing Office 2003, Windows XP and Altiris (third-party distribution
management solution) to approximately 2,600 users at 16 locations worldwide.
synergIT has consulted and implemented a new Citrix environment utilizing
approximately 10 servers, which is expected to grow to over 80 servers in 2005.
Lastly, Reed Smith is preparing for a large business continuance project in
2005 and our consulting team has worked with them to begin preparations for
this major undertaking.

The Children’s Institute, located in the Squirrel Hill area of Pittsburgh, PA
manages a 22 bed inpatient pediatric unit and a 17 bed inpatient unit for
Prader-Willi Syndrome/Behavioral Disorder Programs. Outpatient programs and The
Day School, which serves approximately 224 children with neurological
impairment and/or cerebral palsy is also housed at this main facility. In
addition to this main site, The Children’s Institute has facilities and
outpatient satellite locations at 4 other locations in the Pittsburgh area.
synergIT supports The Children’s Institute’s network of approximately 15-20
servers and 350+ end users. We have been their Emergency 24/7 Microsoft network
software, Compaq/HP hardware and Cisco infrastructure support partner for ten
years. In addition to providing support services, synergIT has been integral in
various network design and migration initiatives. synergIT consulted with The
Children’s Institute regarding their infrastructure audit and assessment. We
provided recommendations and the installation services for the Wide Area
Network branch office technology expansion. synergIT performed the network
design and migration strategy to Active Directory for the Windows 2000 server
migration and Exchange 5.5 to 2000 migration. synergIT assisted The Children’s
Institute with implementing desktop policies and a standard image utilizing
Altiris Deployment Server. In addition, synergIT assisted with the
implementation of their firewall solution as well as their initial Citrix
Metaframe server implementation. Most of these projects have included our
documentation services.

Ameriserv Financial is a super-regional financial institution with over 25
branches in a 500 user network and is headquartered in Johnstown, PA. Ameriserv
has a mix of technologies including Novell NetWare, Windows 2000 and Lotus
Notes for a messaging solution. For the past 8 years, synergIT has been
providing hardware break-fix and software support for over 65 servers these
past 8 years. With Ameriserv’s branch network spread throughout Western PA, our
support engineers often travel 3 hours from our office to support their
environment. We continue to achieve our set response times for their 7x24
support and take special measures to make sure our engineers have the
appropriate hardware parts on the first trip. In addition to hardware support,
we provide 7x24 support on their Novell NetWare, Windows 2000 servers and Lotus
Notes implementation.
